Alliance Health and Life Insurance Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Health Alliance Plan of Michigan. This alternative health insurance company was formed over forty years ago by UAW President Walter Reuther. Alliance Health and Life has designed health insurance policies for families, including PPO, EPO, EPA, and POS plans.

Alliance Health and Life sells a variety of inexpensive health insurance plans for Michigan businesses, individuals, and their families.
- HMO plans center around a strong relationship with a primary care physician. Preventive care programs and incentives empower patients to stay well. Primary care physicians manage all care, including follow-up to emergency care, and referrals to the appropriate specialist.
- POS plans allow the choice to pay at point of service for care outside the plan’s reduced fee network.
- PPO plans have a multitude of deductibles and levels of coinsurance. Patients have the right to choose specialists and are responsible for arranging their own pre-approval for any hospital treatment they may need.
- Supplemental plans provide coverage for medical needs that public-healthcare programs do not cover, including vision, dental, pharmacy, and behavioral health care.
- Discount plans for weight loss, LASIK, and fitness centers may be added as part of a preventive package.
- Health and wellness programs support the patients as they stay healthy.
- A Medicare supplemental PPO Plan is available for retired union members as well as other Medicare enrollees. This plan is only available in the areas of Michigan that are covered by this insurance.
