American Medical Security
The American Medical Security Group (AMS) is a division of PacifiCare Health Systems, a partner of United Healthcare. Founded in 1977, the United HealthCare Insurance Company and its many subsidiaries design quality, affordable health insurance for the residents of Michigan. Originally, in order to help seniors, United Healthcare and its affiliates created Medicare programs, mental health/chemical dependency plans, self-funded plans, 24-hour help lines, and wellness plans that were network-based. Now, their basic HMO and PPO plans are for families, individuals, and business groups of all sizes. AMS continues to find ways to adjust plans to provide even greater variety to members.
American Medical Security Health Plan Insurance Products
American Medical Security MedOne provides a wide range of choices in its economical health insurance plans:
- Policies geared to individuals and families
- Medicare and beneficiary policies
- Policies compiled for the employees of small business
- PPO and HMO policies
Some of the options available through the AMS plans include:
- A different tier of fees for in-network and out-of-network providers, but with the option to use the doctors and hospitals near you.
- Choose from a large group of physicians and hospitals
- Through a relationship with a primary care physician, the patient has his healthcare needs monitored carefully.
- A choice of plans, including those with or without a deductible
- An option of either a plan with a predictable co-pay or one with a limit to out-of-pocket expenses
- Most procedures require some preauthorization.
- Add prenatal, dental (MedOne Dental), or alternative medicine coverage to round out your coverage.
Individual policies may be designed with a variety of deductibles and co-pays. Some patients may prefer a high deductible plan for use with a health savings account, or need a short-term coverage plan.
