Health Plan of Michigan
The Health Plan of Michigan (HPM), founded in 1996, is an HMO and a Medicaid Qualified Health Plan that serves clients in 33 counties in the state. Currently, the plan has over 120,000 members. This HMO is fully accredited with the national Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a non-profit organization that is a valued source of information about managed health care plans. In response to Michigan's goal of enrolling all Medicaid recipients in a managed health care plan, Health Plan of Michigan has designed a comprehensive network of over 1400 primary care physicians, 4200 specialists and 73 hospitals, with the intent of expanding service to other areas of Michigan. HPM is a physician owned and physician managed health plan.
