Upper Peninsula Health Plan
The Upper Peninsula Health Plan provides regional health care services to the residents of the Michigan Upper Peninsula. Their goal is to offer quality, affordable health care to the residents in this isolated, rural area. Their preferred network includes 400 physicians, 14 hospitals, clinics, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, and other health care providers. The Upper Peninsula Health Plan was named one of the best Medicaid managed plans in the US by U.S. News and World Report.
Upper Peninsula Health Insurance Products
Upper Peninsula Health Plan (UPHP) will rent its provider network to other insurance carriers on a case by case basis. Services are available ala carte of in an all-inclusive package, but must include delegated credentialing. UPHP offers a variety of co-pays and deductibles in plans that include the following standard Medicaid, Medicare, and MIChild benefits:
- Doctor visits, including both primary care physician and specialists
- Well-checks
- Services by certified pediatricians and family nurse practitioners
- Coverage for prescription drugs and over-the-counter medicines
- Immunizations, as well as shots to protect against certain illnesses
- Inpatient and out-patient hospital services
- Emergency services, including ambulance services when medically necessary
- Hospice care
- Vision services
- Hearing aid services and products
- Mental health care up to 20 visits a year
- Speech, physical, and occupational therapy
- Family planning services, parenting, and birthing classes, maternity care
- Transportation to medical services
- Care when you are out of town
- Home health care services (up to 100 visits a year).
